I own a 93 dakota sport automatic. I am in the searching stages for a 318 and trans and have a couple of questions.

What year motor can I find and use with all the wiring to hook up without having to do any wiring work? (I am assuming 93-96 will bolt up and plug in but I just want to make sure)

Also what year trans and wiring can I use to do the same without any major modification? (Basically just bolt it on and plug in is what I'm looking for)

Did they make any major changes to the engine or trans from 93 to 96 that would make it a better choice for my swap?

Thanks in advance. I'm just trying to make this swap as easy as possible.

92 to 95. 96s had OBD2 diagnostics. Pretty sure of that.

Thanks a lot.
So as long as I go with an engine and trans from 92-95 I should be ok?

I would have to say yes. Should be fine. Just get the wiring harness and computer from the old one if swaping from a V-6.
