That is common to hear the hissing. Some of it is the turbulent air around the venturies. For some reason they were designed to stick up and impead air flow. The best way to correct most of the problom is a ported throttle body or have the venturi fins milled off

I only hear the hissing noise when I first hit the throttle. Then it turns into a roar.

You know I just put one of those things on last weekend to and my 99/5.2L/4x4 does the same thing. It hisses at me like a cat. I thought maybe I didn't tighten that main nut down enough but apparently thats just the way it sounds. I had my friend step on the gas as I listed and it was tonz of airflowing in nothing that was leaking. I also sprayed water around that seal and no leak. So if you figure out how to get rid of that hissing please email me and let me know. I also just put a Gibson Single Side Cat Back system on this morning and between the two it sounds pretty good. Not super loud to give you headache but loud of enough to hear it.

That is the sound of massive air flow. If you pull the filter off to do a throttle body cleaner and blip the throttle by hand it is even louder. For the most part that is just the vacume caused by the engine pulling in air. It's normal.

Thanks Dave..

I guess I'll stop messing around with it. You know I do need to clean the intake. It was looking pretty dingy. How do you clean that thing. Do you just pour some type of cleaner (?)down the intake while the engines running or maybe I should take it the the shop?

I have the K&N FIPK on my 5.9. When I have my OEM TB on it, it hisses at less than WOT. When I have my Holley 52 MM TB on, it roars during all acceleraions.

I'm from Hamilton. We're probably only 30 miles from each other. Talk about ironic. I've been thinking of getting a cold air induction kit for my 4.7 but wonder about keeping it breathing during our dirty winters. Is it advisable to keep a FIPK on or should the stock set up be put back on for those months?
