Well I can say I sure fukced up. About 3 weeks ago I lowered my 99 RT with a Western Chassis 4"-6" drop. Needless to say before putting the bed back on I noticed that the exhaust pipe after the muffler was resting on top of the axle and more specifically the emergency brake cable. I talked to a friend of mine who owns a suspension shop and he said that what they do is just remove the pipe all together, that way I wont burn through the brake cable. That was fine with me, the louder the better. Well my friend who owns the shop never told me that he has only lowered ext. cabs and not a reg. cab like mine. And the problem with this you may ask? The muffler is so close to the rear end that the heat practicaly melted everything internally!! Not really, but pretty damn close. I needed a WHOLE new rear-end. I had also been having a problem when driving long distances where I would lose my brakes after about 50 miles or so. The cause of this is simple, the exhast heat was literally boiling the brake fluid and creating air pockets!
So to make a long story even longer, my dealer COVERED IT UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I couldn't believe it. All I did was pay the $100 deductible and was handed my keys.

Thank You Dodge,
Brian

I didnt even think of it at the time. This all happened when I was visiting friends in southern california, I now live in northern california. I needed to get back to work ASAP. One week longer than expected was enough for me. Damn, I should have asked for them though. Oh well, I didnt want to push my luck.

Attention Devil:

Just come on back if you ever want to try again. I done told you once you son of a bitck I'm the best who's ever been!

Oh and brianldm, if you're going to cut off the exhaust right in front of the axle, look into a $10 piece of tubing called a "turn-down." This will direct the exhaust and extreme heat down into the pavement instead of directly into your whole new rear end. Then you have LOUD and SAFE.

Just rosin'n my bow......

Granny says he likes lead okay (mostly for breakfast), but he really goes wild when she leaves a set of human nuts in his dish. They're even better when they're still warm.

Fire on d'mountain, run boys, RUN!
