I urge everyone to keep complaining to your dealer and to crysler about the massive buildup of condensation in the oil filler neck,as I just got off the phone doing so.It was 4 months ago when I did a oil change and was regularly cleaning it out but last 2 months I havnt done so and this morning I go to clean it out and I scooped out a cup and a half of crap. This is a major problem and needs to be addressed. They tell me there is no fix and its not a big deal well when its pluged that bad you have no PCV system to vent crankcase gasses and alot of condensation in the engine=NO FN GOOD for your engine.I have taken pictures and samples and logged yet another complaint with my dealer and DC,they tell me there engineers are still working on a fix, they do not want to admit this is a major flaw and doing harm to your engine. The fix is easy a new valve cover with a oil fill and spot for the PCV and a block off plate for the filler.COMPLAIN,B*TCH AND MOAN THEY HAVE TO FIX THIS,and I am pushing for my warranty to start after it is fixed

I have 36,500 on my 2k Dak and i have never seen this white stuff, and i look down the fill tube all the time. So I really dont know what to say, but i drive 35 miles one way to work 5 days a week, so mine may get warmed up good enough to evaporate the moisture inside the motor, I dont know what else to say.

I've nerver seen this in mine either. I do all my own oil changes including cleaning off the cap and down in the filler tube a bit. I don't know what to tell you either.

There is a TSB for this problem. Have you got the updated cap and baffle that improves the situation?

Have you seen this TSB? (the link below)

The TSB is not a fix, mine is a 2001 and it allready has the baffle and cap which they added in 01 model year,I am in a damp climate and the problem seems worse here,I see alot of this buildup in alot of cars BUT not to this extreme and I think that the baffle makes it even worse all it takes is alittle buildup to block of the bottom, the sludge is like grease and there is no way that your PCV can vent gases like that

Hey, I've complained to 1-800-4-adodge twice and have a file number. I asked for the western rep's name for Canada so I could write him a letter, but they wouldn't give it to me. The dealer also has my complaint registered. I have the so called fix (TSB) and it doesn't do anything but hide the problem somewhat.

I have logged my complaints aswell and have a file # and pics and samples and I am now asking for a letter from DC saying that it is normal to have a large buildup of this oil and water mix,so much in fact that it plugs up the PCV valve, when the PCV valve is plugged you will get deposit buildup from the oil and burnt gases all inside the engine and is also a contributor to gasket leaks

Art, others have posted on this as well.

For the reasons you state, I do think that any appreciable amounts can be a problem longterm.

I live in the Houston/Galveston area, drive at least 40 miles round trip to the job. I only run Mobil 1, 5w30.

I do my own changes, never seen this yet, have about 16,000 miles on my '01 4.7 QC 5spd.

maybe the warmer temps combined with the Mobil 1 keep it away? what do you think?

Again, thanks for bringing it up again, it's nice to know others are working for the common good of Dak owners.

Mine does this, also. I drive 13 miles to work and back. It is due to moisture condensation in the filler neck. I would imagine the problem is worse under high humidity/low temperature conditions.

Mine (2001) has the baffle in the neck that does nothing. It just makes the problem non-visible. Pull out the baffle and it is there, under the baffle.

Is there a way to keep the filler neck heated? A Heat shield in the front to trap heat from the engine and keep cold air from teh front of the filler neck?

I have a 01 4.7 auto, change my own oil all (good old valvoline all climat 5w-30) and have never seen this. Most of my trips end right after or before the engine is heated up all the way and I have never seen this. Not dogging you its just wierd.

So far so good on my '01 4.7. I wonder there could be coolant leaks or if the people with problems are running 180 degree thermostats?
