I use a wheelchair and bought the Dakota knowing I was going to lower it. I was tired of S-10's. I was talked out of the air bags because they said the ride would be to rough. I had it lowered 2-3 with A arms and springs but I still like the idea of the air bags. Being able to adjust the height is nice. With the bags I could lower it even more and get in easier then raise it back up.
I did see the show....they make it look so easy..!

I'm currently designing a new type of front air suspension that requires little modification to the suspension components and rides softer than the stock suspension, up to the same stiffness. The idea is that it will be a drop in type component. I've already designed and built the first model which I am testing out on my 95 club cab. The beauty of it is the extreme travel distance(stock height to nearly laying frame) and the fact that the ride is so much better than any current air suspension on the market.

I would like to test this new idea out on the new body styles, quad cabs, etc. My plan is to build my new idea at cost for those who would be willing on trying it out. The catch is that if I have to build these things one at a time they will be very expensive (i.e. over $500 pr for the front). However, if I can get at least ten people in on the deal, the costs could be reduced to around $300/pr.

For those unfamiliar with air suspensions, expect to spend 2-3 grand for the whole system. If anyone who may already have an air suspension, or is planning on getting one is willing to try out my new idea, please let me know.

loku, a couple of questions.

1)if you are going to make it ride better than stock, are you going to 4-link the rear?

2)if it is so expencive, what good does it do to let you experiment on someones truck? why not wait untill the kit is out and buy it when its cheaper?

3)how does the kit allow the ride to be more firm without putting more air into the bag?

4)what size lines do you use, and how many tanks/compressors, and are you using manual or electric valves?

5)how does the truck corner? better or worse or the same as stock?
