had a friend who had a 95 sport 4x4 and a 5.2 and i wanted one from that moment on!
as soon as they came out with the gen 3 i was really wanting one until the wife couldnt handle the begging anymore!so i bought a 98 off of a lease and lived happily ever after and then she complained until she got a durango!so i gave in and we are now both happy!

I bought mine to fufill a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I had always wanted a pickup truck of my own. As soon as the Gen III's came out, I knew someday I would own one. The oppurtunity for me to get one came this summer so I took it and haven't regretted buying it ever since. The looks, the performance, everything about the truck is awesome!

I bought mine (an '02 CC V6 Dak) because my S10 sucked, and I wanted a real truck but didn't want to pay out the nose for it. I 'only' have the V6 but even that isn't bad, and that would be the 'low' point in a truck that's great.

Macho looks, higher curb weight + "beefiness", price ($2k rebate!) and that great 4.7L V8! Dakota had (and STILL has!)the only REAL 4-door midsized pickup on the market. The Chevy S-10 is garbage, Ford SportTrac has a "plastic bucket" attached to an Explorer frame (with rear coil springs!), Nissan is too "tinny" and Toyota's are way overpriced - need I say more?
Check the magazine reviews yourself... The 2002 Dakota came out in 1st place when compared to all the rest! They all preferred it's larger size and the fact that it came with a V8. P.S. Don't be distracted from the V8 - the V6's gas mileage is only SLIGHTLY better when compared to the V8!
I'm fairly sure you will NOT be disappointed!

I got mine because I had wanted a pickup since I was alittle kid... Then as I grew up alittle I was more into performance... So I thought I would end up with a 4.6 stanger. But, then I thought surely there is a good lookin pickup out there somewhere that performs good enough and has alot of room for modifying. Thats when I decided to get my Dakota R/T :)

My 2002 RC 4.7L SLT+ 2WD 3.92 LSD, is THE cheapest fastest (those go together) brand new vehicle I could get, with THE cheapest insurance. No kidding, they actually charge more for the "sport" model because it's contains the word sport in it. They don't ask about enigne or anything. It's also an awesome all around truck. Once I finally test drove one, it blew a Toyota out of the water. A GMC C3 woulda been nice though...lol. I just went there to see, what the hell. It was sorta on the way to the Toyota and Honda dealership and I've had freinds tell me a Dakota would fit me well...
...I guess it does.

Had a Ranger, it was to small, to haul the family, camping gear and the camper. I have wanted a dakota ever since they came out with the Gen III. I got a deal that I couldn't turn down from autobytel.com. Haven't regreted it yet.

Four door truck for family of six with a REAL rear seat a 6' wife could sit in...
Wasn't 50 yards long, so fit in an average parking spot...
Two wheel drive=good gas mileage and tight turning radius for parking lot maneuverability...
Hey... I can get a V-8 with a manual transmission!..
Bed to hold the trash on the garbage runs...(try a minivan with garbage in it, YUCK)
Tows anything...
Looks good...
$7,000 cheaper MSRP than Ford F-150 crew cab...
Chevy Crew Cab had only automatic and the huge engine...
Add a "Rail N Rack" (http://www.seaportmachine.com) system and you don't miss having the long bed...

Best available creature comforts, best handling and best looks of all the compacts. More room inside, bigger engine, and did I mention best looking? And on top of all that, it just felt right when test driving. Why would anyone buy an S-10, Ranger or Tacoma?

When I graduated from collage in 1995. I wanted to get A truck with A V8 and A 5 speed tranny. After going to the chevy dealer and having three trucks sold out from underneth me. I went to the Dodge dealer to get A ram, but all they had was $30,000 and up left on the lot. So I asked the saleman What did they have in A V8 5speed ?
They showed me A club cab V8 with A 5 speed.
I fell in love with it when I test drove it.
I bought A loaded Dakota for the same price I was going to spend on A striped down chevy with A smaller V8.
Maybe I will trade it in on A new Dakota someday, But I am still enjoying the one I have now.

I bought my Dak for a few reasons. I need a 4x4 to get me to my camp spots and I need a pickup to take my dirt bikes with me to those places. However, I crave the performance of an American muscle car. Since I can't afford 2 cars, I wanted something that fit my needs and addressed my want of performance. Small truck with big truck power. It looks tough. An finally, you can't get an F-150 with their 5.4 v-8 and a manual transmission. If you want a manual, you have to settle for their little v-8. The dakota gave me what I wanted and then some.

I bought my Dakota cuz i am obsessed with DODGE and there V8 engines, but in the fall i am trading my 2002 Dakota 4x4 Sport + in for a SRT-10, 8.3L V10 500hp. Ya baby.. Gonna kick some serious ass with that Truck.

I just bought a 93 4by4 ext cab 318.I had a 94 ranger and it wasn't half the truck i got now.The only thing i hate is they don't offer a lot of add on's for this model.So i modified my own when possible.I love the power and room.It's a one owner with all the records.I believe it is a keeper.I well over look the gas mileage for the power.Ed.

I got mine because, when I first saw the orange streetscene dakota I fell in love with it and I had to have one myself, I had to be the first in my area to have one lowered and with a stereo. I first wanted a 97, the first model year but my dad said no, then when my car was stolen and not recovered, perfect opportunity to go and factory order a 98 within a month I had the DJM 5/3 coils and hangers kit and 225/50/15 tires. Couple weeks after that all the decals were peeled off even the one that seperates the door window to the ClubCab side window.

I traded my s10 in on my dakota because I wanted a V8 and a 4x4. Litle s10 w/ v6 had a hard time pulling 2 sea-doo, snowmobiles, and wouldn't even think about pulling a 28' party hut(thing is so big I could park my dak on it). This truck has proven alot of people wrong.

Well i really wanted a Tacoma b/c they hold value, last forever, and off-road really well. But then I drove one with a large salesman, we touched shoulders. The bed was too shallow, made me nervous.
Then I say a Dakota, damn good looking. V8 power!! I was hooked.
At first I considered a used 98 1500 ext. cab black Chevy, then I found out how much a Dak cost...

I've had 2 chevy s10's and a Nissan King Cab, all 4 cylinder, all small, all gone. I needed bigger but not full size. I'm 6'2" and needed 4 doors . If I can't sit in the back when the front seat is in My position then neither are my family or friends. I live in Canada (we have 2 seasons :winter and July) and need a real 4x4 to get places without worrying about getting back. ...BINGO... RED 2001 Dodge QC 4.7 V8 4x4. The cure for all my problems . AND it just looks f'n great.

Definatly insurence. My mom was reading off all of the cars by rating of insurence... My dads 5.0 and his GN were concidered High performance... While my R/T was concidered Standard. Im not going to complain. Thats less money that has to be paid...

Dakota's insurance is awesome for the speed and power you're getting. 96 Anniv. Z28 woulda been 380 a month for me, ouch. Even a 96 Prelude would have been around 320...My Dakota, is 200, and BRAND NEW.

I just paid my insurance on my 2001 CC 3.9 4x4 and it was $1010/half. A tad more expensive than my old 1996 Ford Taurus, but to me it well worth it!

Yeah my insurance went down $64 when I bought my Dak. But then I got on my own plan. It shot back up. But i'm turning 25 here soon so hopefully it will go back down. Plus it helps to have a clean driving record for the last 4-5 years.
