Congrats to you too! Where are you located? I am in the Albany area. I am looking to accessorize, starting with a tonneau cover. Seems like I get bad gas milage with all of the drag and stop and go driving. What options do you have on your QC?

I just got the basic Club Cab SXT model. Your truck is loaded! Mine is Dark Garnet Red, 3.9L, 5-spd, 3.55 gears, 16x8 wheels/all terrain tires, CD player, A/C, bucket seats and under the rail bedliner. All of this comes standard on the SXT. I really don't need any more since I don't plan on towing anything though the heavy duty service group would have been nice. I didn't have much time really. I only bought when I heard they had the 0% financing with the free 7/100 warranty. That gave me about.......one week to find a truck! I wasn't really planning on buying one and got this one because I couldn't see passing up that kind of a deal. But I am glad I bought it! I love it so far! Know anything about tonneau covers? There are so many different kinds and the dealer I bought mine from only stocks an aftermarket snap tonneau and wasn't very helpful in answering my questions. Guess I was have to comb the internet.

oops. noticed a few mistakes in my last post!
1. All come standard except the under the rail bedliner. :)
2. Guess I WILL have to comb the internet.

Makes more sense now. Sorry.

Hi daniel, I have the same truck as yours except mine is black and a automatic. I had a lund snap on soft cover on my old 97 dakota and if you don't mind doing and undoing alot of the snaps, you will like it alot.
Just don't undo it in winter, it is a pain to put back on and with a soft cover you might get cigarette burn holes from pr*cks that fling them on your cover. I would strongly recommend a fibergass one.

Daniel, your Dak sounds like a sweet looking ride! Yeah, same here on the spur of the moment purchase. I was planning on waiting until Spring to buy but I couldn't resist the 0% finncing. I have done some research on hard-tonneau covers and will be buying one in the spring. I want to wait until I'm sure I've got all the bugs out of the Dak before getting involved with tonneau - i don't want to be put in the position of fighting a two-front war in case I have trouble with both! Anyway, I checked out the A.R.E. LSII fiberglass tonneau at Ruth's Automotive on New Karner Rd in Albany - great looking tonneau and highly recommended. They want $844 installed (there is a $20 off coupon you can get on the website www.4are.com). I will be checking out the LEER 700 Series fiberglass tonneau at Flying W Caps in Schenectady in the near future and will let you know how I make out.

Thanks Allen for your input. I never thought about the cigs flying. I from time to time get some A-hole throwing them out and it hitting my windshield. I will keep a bag a skittles for retaliation. :) I am not one for doing the endless amount of snaps. I've seen those and have ruled them out. Do you know anything about the snapless kind?

12GA. Send me your email address and I will em you some pics of my truck (dbassplayer@att.net). I do like the way the graphite flares go with the garnet red color. I would like to get a hard fiberglass cover but it would be a hassle to keep lifting it up everytime i put anything higher than the siderail in there. It would be easier to roll up a soft cover and strap in near the cab, though the hard covers look so much nicer and have you seen the thundertail spoiler? Very nice. check it out at stylinconcepts.com What bugs do you have to get out of your DAK? Let me know how you make out with the covers. I never knew Ruth's sold those. Do they also sell the soft ones?

daniel, yeah Ruth's sells soft tonneaus as well. I use to have a Jeep CJ7 with a soft top and have since sworn off anything that has to be snapped! So far I've had the Dak back to the dealer to take care of two things: an untightend bolt on the front passenger bucket seat (the bolt was sticking up an inch!) and to replace one of the round access panels in the bedliner which flew out somewhere on 787! No complaints otherwise-yet. How about you?

I've looked on the net at the Extang Tough TonnoIII cover. It is snapless and is supposed to be really good but i'd rather have testimonial from people have have had them. I am going to have to go to a place like "just for trucks" in mechanicville and look at all of the different varieties. The Accesscovers look nice too and seem easy to roll up etc but they are $400+ for a soft cover! I agree. I don't want one that snaps. As far as any problems.....so far nothing! The only thing that even bothered me was the fact that in cold weather, if you drive it before letting it warm up, it sounds like something revving hard under the hood on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. However, in about 2 minutes or so, it goes away and it never happens when the truck is warm. Someone on this board said that it is more than likely the fan clutch and that it is perfectly normal. Other than that, no problems. Than again there are only 500 miles on it now so I would hope I wouldn't notice anything this early!

daniel, there are a large number of threads at this site on tonneau covers including lots of testimonials. peform a search on tonneau covers and a bunch of them come up. I too want a cover that is easily removed and am only considering those with quick release latches.

Thanks. I will do that. I would love to get a hard cover with the thundertail wing but that is pretty much all show and my wife would kill me if i did that. :) She wants me to buy one for what is practical for our needs. what is your email address? i'd love to send you a pic of some of the trucks from the ARE site. One in particular has the thundertail on it!

Thanks Mills. Right now I am leaning towards an Extang due to their reputation. I am thinking about the Tuff Tonno III (snapless). Do you have any pics of the tonno on your truck you could send me. I'd love to get an idea of how it would look. Thanks. My email should be right over
