Did you have your truck since new? Seems like you really take proper maintenance on your truck. anyways, the only thing i had to replace was a radiator and water pump. the wierd thing about the water pump was that it didn't start leaking water like most do when they go bad. One day i was driving and all of a sudden the temp guage goes way high. so i pull over and notice that the v belt is caught between the fan blades. didn't make any sense at first.

Yea, I had it since new. I do what I can with maintenance. I've never had to take it to a garage since the warranty was off at 75,000. One thing I forgot was that yea, I have put 2 sets of CV boots on it, too, but that rubber is a wearable part like brakes. I change those myself too, and the new boots are 25 bucks apiece. I've neve lost a cv shaft on it yet, and it has the original ball joints in there! But one is starting to wear now, so I gotta change it.

yeah, i still get close to 20 mpg every week, and that isn't highway driving, on long trips i get near 23 mpg and its got 177,000 on it. another thing is, when i got it i thought the transmission was going, but changed fluid to valvoline max life and it drives like new. Where did you get your o2 sensor? mine only cost 40 bucks. Did you replace the timing chain? mine was rattling really bad.

I have a 90 Dak with 2.5 202,000 and run it hard everyday and get 19 mpg. only thing wrong is I have worn the syncro out on third gear so it will grind at speeds above 35mph.

I have a 1988 Dakota 4x4 5 speed with a 3.9L. It has 295,000 km (about 183,000 miles). It has had regular maintenance on it since new. Still has original motor(does not use any oil between changes)clutch and tranny. At app. 200,000km had to replace leaky valve cover gaskets. At 260,000 km the brakes where done and u-joints in rear drive shaft as well as a leaky water pump, but thats they only work I have had to do on it. This weekend I am going to try to get to the u-joints on the front drive shaft. Have a great weekend everyone
