So two nights ago there were about 22 car break ins in one night in my neighborhood!!! And I supposedly live in a good neighborhood!!! One of the 22 was stolen. My Dak was luckily spared And I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for an effective alarm system. This people were out for stereos and what not. My truck sits in a good location with decent lighting and more in the open than other cars. But i'd still like a little more piece of mind. Thanks for any suggestions.

I prefer immobilizers or a kill switch of some kind. Of course that doesn't protect my contents.

I know a kill switch would be a good idea and relatively inexpensive. But I would like something to protect the contents...though there are very little. I just don't want some thief tearing up my dak trying to find something of value.

I had a Viper alarm in my stang and it was pretty cool. It would have a kill switch, plus if you forget to lock your doors it has a setting to where it'll automatically set the alarm and lock the doors. But if it senses the keys in the ignition it will set the alarm but not lock the doors. And if your in a REALLY bad neighborhood you can set your alarm while your driving and if someone tried to open your door it would go off. If you wanna get really into it you can order the vibration detector but thats expensive...just depends on how bad U want to protect your stuff. I've had breakins in my apartments and they say not to leave anything in plain view not even change in the cupholders or sunglasses laying out. I'm not putting in a high dollar stereo face in mine due to burglaries.

You can also try a car sound alarm. They tend to
be pricey, but there suppose to be the best
aftermarket alarms. It has a electronic kill
switch, vibration detection, it also comes with a
optional beeper to alert you. A friend of mine has
an uncle that owns a small chain of alarm and
stereo equipment stores, thats the only alarm they
run in all thei

Go clifford for a good alarm. Go DEI if you want a decent one and save some bucks. You just need vibration and window-cracking detection. Make sure you get a back-up battery. Usually a $35 option. Most alarms have starter kill and vibration detection. Make sure you have pins installed for your doors and hood. Also, get an add-in pin/magnetic detector for your rear slider if you have one.

Starter kill sounds like a great idea. I saw ignition kill malfunction once and leave owner stranded in a travel lane on the highway. Unusual, but it happens. Good luck !

Go with the dealer alarm. They warranty it and if something goes wrong with the system they can't say the warranty is void.

There is NO alarm out there that will protect the contents of your Dak...If someone wants to get in for your stereo of whatever u leave sitting in your car, its theirs, alarm or no alarm...these guys are in and out in like 2 minutes....by the time u hear your alarm at 3am get out of bed and run outside, they are gone and so is your stuff..

That is true...when is the last time you looked out the window at a car alarm going off and called the police or tried to stop a guy breaking in...usually if your asleep you just wish the alarm would hurry up and shut up.
