Subject: cat back exhaust input needed....
IP: Logged

Message:
Looking for some input from people who have heard/owned/driven in the different cat back exhausts for a 99 DAK 5.2 4x4 CC. Over the past week I have searched through the archives here and listened to many, many .wavs of the different systems (Gibson, Flowmaster,Dynomax etc.) I have a stock 5.2, but am looking for a "better sounding" exhaust. Most importantly I am trying to avoid the in cab resonance (especially for longer trips). I would like to have that "throatier" sound without attracting too much attention. Anyone able to suggest a system/manufacturer?
Thanks for the help.
Joe B.

Hey Joe B.

I have the same truck as you... I went with the Gibson single 3" cat back for the same reasons you mentioned above. I did'nt want a lot of resonance or droning noise in the cab, yet still has that deep troaty rumble. I have no complaints with it.

I have a Flowmaster catback that modified from a genIII to fit my genII. The only thing thast is different is the hangers, so i didn't change the way the cat back is designed. I have the 5.2 and it sounds very nice; good deep sound but not too loud untill you open it up. It is a 3" tip and it really gives it a nice look. I am trying to maintain a sleeper look as long as I can and so far noone has noticed the bigger exaust that i know of.
