 Subject: New '01 Dakota CC- 4K report and Q's

Hello all,
New to this forum and have been lurking for a while. I bought a '01 Dak CC in October, equipped as follows: 4.7, auto, 3.92LS, SLTplus (T&H package, OH Console, PW/PL/all the interior goodies, etc.), TuTone Garnet Red over Silver, Fog Lights, Heated Mirrors, Tow Package. About the only things I didn't get that would have liked are leather buckets and the payload upgrade. Anyway, I got a great deal on the truck from Hinkley Dodge in Salt Lake City (salesman was Mike Fuhriman, very good guy to deal with). With 4K on the truck I've had it in once for minor warranty items including an ash tray that wouldn't stay closed (I'd gladly forego the tray for a smooth dash and extra power outlet) which was replaced, and for rough shifting from 1st to 2nd, for which they flashed the PCM as per a TSB. Service dept at Hinkley's has been very good. I love the power and handling on this truck, previous truck was a Toyota, and before I bought the Dak I drove 'em all-- Ford, Chevy, Nissan, and Toyota. The only other truck that felt as good as the Dak was the Toyota Tundra, but I would have had to shell out another $6K to get the same level of trim I got in my Dak. In short, I really like the truck thus far. My only complaint?? Fuel mileage! I'm hoping to see major improvement with more miles, but for now am seeing 11 city/16 hwy and I don't have a heavy foot. Are there any solid recommendations for improving MPG on the Daks?? Thanks,

When my truck is a tick above "E", it takes 18 gallons. It's usually around 200 miles between those fillups -- which is around 11 mpg. My neighbor has the 4.7 and says he gets around 12 miles per gallon. I don't know what it is about Dodge, but that's just another reason I won't have this truck for too long.

Your truck is pretty much identical to mine!! Mine is solid Dark Garnet Red, and I have a 3.55 LSD rear, and 4X4. I am getting about 11 to 12.5 L/100km (12.5 on highway @100km/h with cruise).
