 Subject: New Dakota?

What is the scoop on a next gen dakota? I have a 98 CC and was looking to get a new QC with a few more bells and whistles. Would I be wasting my money if there is a new style coming out in a year (I am assuming that I would like that new style and want to buy it), or will it not be for a few more years that it comes out. Any clue?

No one knows for sure. ALOT of rumors going around. I am figuring that the 3.9 and 5.9 are history replaced by the 3.7 and 5.7 similar to the current 4.7. I also think that the 4.7 is going to have a power increase because the 3.7 is rated @ 200 to 215 hp which is awfully close to the 230 from the 4.7. There is a ho version of the 4.7 in the Grand cherokee. Maybe the dakota will get it next. As far as a body style, Dodge keeps those things under lock and key. I usually find out what they look like right when they come out.

I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago and people told me you probably won't see the next generation until 2004, but it may come out in early 2003. Don't hold me to that! It will probably look more like the new style or RAM which I detest. Too many curves, doesn't look as imposing as the old Ram did. Glad I got my Gen III Dakota if the Gen IV are going to look anything like the Ram!

When I bought my 2002 Quad Cab the salesman told me they are developing a new "Hemi" type engine for the Dakota. Don`t ask me when b/c I don`t remember. I do remember the old Hemi`s...!

they have already developed the new HEMI, it is 355ci and 355hp. it is the engine that is being used in the Nascar Winston Cup cars. It is supposed to be available either late this spring or for sure in the 2003's.
