Subject: DurangoR/T vs Dak 4.7

Message:
There is a guy at work that claims his Durango R/T was a special order and that it had some enhancements from the factory which boosted the hp to 270. I never heard of any such options, has any one else?

I drive an 01 cc 4X4 4.7 5sp 3.55 all stock and would love to pull away from this square head and his "special" R/T. I'm thinking with the weight difference and his AWD that I should have a decent chance. Any Opinions? I don't want to try if I have no chance.

changing plugs Autolite 3923 or Bosch +4(4418)?

thanks
az

From the factory there are no "special" packages for the Durango that would boost power to 270. The only vehicles from Chrsyler with 270 HP are the Jeep Grand Cherokees with the new 4.7 HO engine. This engine is not yet available in the Dodge line.

There maybe aftermarket packages that you could order through a dealer. But boosting a 5.9 from 235 to 270 still doesn't sound right. Most aftermarket would supercharge it and that would boost to around 335.

I've seen a mean Durango with an aftermarket supercharger, just listen to the truck, if it has that familiar whine then i wouldn't mess with it.
