Subject: Shift Points n a 45re tranny
IP: Logged

Message:
It seems to me that my 2002 4.7L w/3.92's shifts too soon. If I'm at a cruising speed and give it about another 1/4 throttle than where I'm at, (I think) the torque converter unlocks for about 2 seconds and then locks too early. After about the 5th or so time I get frustrated and really give it some gas. I don't want to have beat on the truck just to keep it in a lower gear. Is there any way to bump up the shift points or delay the torque converter lock up without having to manually shifting it?

Anybody else notice this?

ya, i have the same problem. It's irratating. I wish there was a way to disconnect the lock up feature instead of running high rpms with overdrive off.

I know exactly how you feel. Having the tranny "kick down" at event the slightest additional throttle from cruising speed is annoying to say the least. MAkes it feel sluggish at times. BTW, '02 XC Dakota Sport Plus 4.7L auto

I've noticed the same problem. Which is why I still wish I'd have gotten the 5-spd. All my trucks have been in the past, but I figured it was time to sit back and enjoy driving. I miss it now though -- the manual tranny gives you so much more control.
