Does anyone out there have a generation II dakota with an eletric fan? If so, can you leave the coolant overflow tank where it is and remove the fan shroud? I'm going to get the flex-a-lite fan from truckperformance.com and I want to get rid of the fan shroud with out moving the overflow tank. Thanks for your help!

Kris, when I installed my Hayden fan I fabbed up a bracket to hold the overflow tank. This worked well for well over a year. I got bored one night a few months ago and hacked the right side of the old fan shroud, just enough for the 2 mounting screws. Popped on the overflow bottle and hit the street.

Thanks Jon, I see this is your first post as a member. I've been to your site plenty of times, it's a great referance. But I wouldn't call your truck a Generation I! I'm looking at the Flex-a-Lite fan on truckperformance.com, it looks like it might take up the whole radiator, unlike the hayden, and I have thought about cutting the shroud in half like you did on your site. Again, thanks for your help.

P.S. Thanks to you I make sure that I pull over only for marked squad cars!!! If you know what I'm talking about, I read it all.

Hey Jon,
I've noticed you have stuck on the ASP underdrive pullies on also. Did you put on the alternator pulley also? If so, the does charge get low when the fan goes on?

I cut the shroud off and left just enough to hang the coolant recovery tank on. Works great after 3 years of rough Korean roads.
