I have a 1993 V6 with 168000 miles on it . I have suddenly started getting only 250 miles from a tank full of fuel . It is stock . I have replaced the , plugs , wires , rotor button , distributor cap , air charge sensor , water temp sensor , thermostat , mufffler , Catalytic converter , air filer , fuel pump , fuel filter ,u-joints , coil ,coolant and the O2 sensor . It's only burning about a quart of oil every 4500 miles and if I remove the hose from the PCV I don't notice a lot of blow by . But still I get rich running and fuel smell from the exaust . when I pull the plugs they don't look all that bad . any ieas ?

I hope its not something in the motor.

Does it still run good?

Anyone else have any ideas??

I was getting 420 miles from a 22 gallon tank . I have just reset the computer and I'm still gettting a 21 code . I already replaced the O2 sensor so I'm guessing I have a wiring problem .

Hello evry one.....just need some advise on something. Aquadyne and evry one alse I see you have replaced your fuel pump. Did you do this your self???? If so how??? I am getting no start on my90 dakota 3.9 L V6 Ity was running fine up intill yesterday.. I came out and it did not start. I poured gas strait in to the throttle body and it started, then stalled when it used all that gas. So i think it might by the feul filter or pump.. What happen was I sarted my truck applied the brake and shifted to drive and gave gas all in likt a 4 second period. I do usaelly let it warm up for 10 minuted but I was driveing it about 15 minutes before this happened...Any hoo I think I will replace the fuel filter first.. Hopefully that is it.... But if need be i will replace the pump as well... I was told to either drop the tank or remove the bed wich would be the fastest and/or the easyiest to do to get to the fuel pumd ... How do I no if the computer shut off the auto relay shut down and if it did how do I turn it back on????? The (ASD)... It is on a side street at my mothers house so i will have to do it there (sucks) I have also heard I should get the whole assembly for the fuel pump and not just the pump its self.. I have never did a feul PUMP so bear with me.... This sucks My first Dakota ...it is a little old and needs some work but I love it so much I so fuc@ pist right now it has alway ran awsome for having a 150,000 on it like I said Firs time doing this so All the help I c an get will be greatly appricaited... I have basic tools screw drivers hammers rachet socket just no lifts or hoist ... I am not sure if you need any thin specail to take the bed off it looked easy but again never did it so not sure..Is there a lot of electrical to take of the bottom of the bed to take the bed off???? PLEASER HELP

The fuel pump and the filter are an all in one unit, and you will have to remove the bed or drop the tank. Its a MOFO either way (your choice). I droped my tank myself. The only tool I realy needed was a 15mm wrench. A socket will not be long enough. Mines a 96 and should be very similar to yours. If you drop the tank make sure you drain it first(not that you wouldn't think of that). If I had the opertunity to do it again I would lift the bed and while it was off get a welder to make a custom hatch over the tank (seriously)LOL. Not alot of electrical under there just a single connection to the pump. Yours will have a fuel return line, a vent, and a supply line as well. The pump will cost anywhere from $210 to $400 depending where you look. If you don't have a couple of extra jacks, then lift the bed (with a few buds). I had a fork lift available to me to get the truck high enough to pull the tank out from under the frame. To see if the pump is working There should be a test valve on the fuel rail bolted to the manifold under the air hat. Turn the key on and see what comes out. I hope someone else can tell you about the cutoff relay because I don't know about that. My pump was humming like a bird constantly and thats what gave it away. Hope this helps

Good morning. I do bel.ive the fuel filter on my 1990 dakota is located under the drives side seat mounted on the frame...I think they are two very diffrent components. My fuel pump is in the tank. and I have a inline fuel filter..I know some cars have a in line (fuel pump) can I convert mine so it is inline and not in the tank....

It will only help if you're getting a O2 sensor fault code .
