Have any of you had problems like some of the 2000-2001 trucks have?
Paint, warped rotors, transmission replacements, box misaligned?

I have one, got mine before most dealers even had them in their computers. No, my bed is fine and I am only at about 2300 miles on it, so I can't say much. I do not think many people can. I also have an SLT+, so I can not comment on the crappy paint on the bumpers, but I doubt it's been fixed. Warped rotors wont surprise me, I prefer aftermarket brakes anyways...

No problems so far, and it's doing REAL WELL in the cold and ice/snow. It's a 2WD and I have already been offroading a little and jumping around in the snow.

I suppose it is a little early to ask that question, but maybe not considering the problems some other owners have.
I will be looking at aftermarket brakes anyway. I am used to the stopping power of my beemer. Hard to get used to the dakota brakes when I test drove it

While I can't yet comment on the long term wear issues some have experienced, I can say that the paint on my truck is great. I have a a C.C. Sport and it may be because I got one of the first 2002 models made and they were extra careful but it seems like they ran it through the spray booth three times. It is thick and flawless down to the frame rails. Best production paint job I have ever seen. Also, all the body parts were perfectly in line. I only have three thousand miles on it but gotta love that engine. Rev that 4.7 out and it flies. Right now I wish I had bought two of 'em and put one on mothballs for when the first one wears out.

02 Quad Cab Sport + 4x4 3.9l

2600 miles, no problems so far that I can't live with. Box is about 3/16" off one one side, no big shakes.

The ride on this truck is the best in any truck I've been in. Way better than my Gen II Dak I traded in for this one.

The book says that there isn't really a performance improvement to be had using mid- or high- grade gasoline, but I put some mid- in and what a difference. I should probably put high-grade in to test it out - even mid grade helps the power loss I feel when accelerating between 15 and 30 mph. I shoulda got the 4.7l. Too late now.

Transmission speed sensors shorted at about 300 miles and set off a bunch of the idiot lights. A local dealer ordered replacement parts and although I had to make another trip back, they fixed it in about an hour. Other than that and a small (1/4") blemish in the paint, I've had no problems. Currently at 2500 miles.

3.9L, 5-speed. Only quirk I've come across so far in 1300 miles is that the 1-2 shift seems a little "crunchy" when the truck is cold. I don't hear gears grinding but the stick does seem to want to fight me. And, yes, I am pushing the clutch pedal all the way down (LOL). It started when the outside temperature dropped into the 40's and seems to get better after the truck is warmed up.

Downshifts into second seem fine.

I'll be mentioning this to the dealer when I go in for an oil change, but if anyone has suggestions, I'm willing to listen. FYI, I did have someone tell me that switching to synthetic transmission oil might help.

I was just going to say that you should go to a synthetic trnasmission oil, then I read that last paragraph, so I'm just going to agree! Below about 30 2nd gear is kinda of resistant, none of my others, but it's not too much. I'm planning on chaning it out at 3000 miles when I switch out my plugs, diff., transmission, and engine oil(yes, filter too, ALWAYS!).
