Subject: ABS and Parking light on?

Help. Have not been around lately. Sorry bought that. But I need some help. My ABS and Parking lights are on and will not go out. I have had in to my reg mechanic a couple of times, and he is not having any luck getting into the ABS comp. to pull any codes. We pulled the speed sensor out of the rear end and cleacned it, didn't seem to be the problem. Any ideas. Please. I'd hate to have to take to my local Dodge dealer. They suck. And I only have about 900 miles left on my extended warranty.

Yes, replace that sensor in the rear end and that will clear your problem. This is a common thing on our trucks.

the cheapest way to do it is to detatch a battery cable for about 5 seconds and put it back on and it will be all good

Check your fuse panel...

I shorted my brake lights once in the process of towing a trailer and that blown fuse evidently caused the strange LED actions

So far all of your suggestiona are very good, but none of them are new. I have tried all those already and still have the lights. Anything else?

I had the same problem twice on my '96 Dakota. the first time it was the wheel speed sensor on the rear dif. that fixed the problem for about 6 months and then the lights came on again. The second time it was the wire harness that connects to the wheel speed sensor on the rear dif. The wire harness was about 6 ft long and $35- easy to replace. Hope this helps

I had this problem occur on my 90 dak...

It ended up being the ABS Valve itself.... It was a $400.00 canadian price for the part.

However the new trucks may be totally different, just trying to help.

What a great site. I did every thing imaginable to my brakes to get rid of the ABs/brake light problem. I will replace the rear sensor as suggested. My speedo acts up under 20mph also.
I did a DC pulse test on the sensor and it checked fine, but obviously it is not.

If you get both the ABS and brake warning light and your brake lights are on, then you have the same problem as me. The switch that your brake pedal touches when not depressed goes bad/out of adjustment. I had to tape a penny where it contacts and that pushed the plunger in enough to make everything happy. I am thinking of replacing the switch or bending the bracket so I don't have to depend on a penny. Just follow the brake pedal up and you will see a small plastic beige colored box with a black plunger that hits a strike plate on the pedal. Good Luck and let me know if this fixes your problem........ Tom J.
