I just called a local dealer and got a price for a 97 air intake plenum for my 96 Dak. They quoted $85!!! Is that about what you other DIY'ers paid? Any way to get one cheaper short of stealin' one?
The junkyards here are more like used auto stores which doesn't drop the price much from retail.

That is what I paid for mine through the dealership. I checked the junk yards as well, and it seems like they know what we want them for. There was someone selling one on ebay the other day for $30, but dont know if it is still there.

I'm having trouble finding one for my 1995 Dak as well.
I have seriously considered just ordering one from the dealer, asking price is $103.00 CDN (ouch !!).

The kit from the dealer comes with bolts and a gasket for sure, may even include a new pan although I am not sure about that. You can go to Napa and order one which comes with the plenum to head gaskets as well for about $35.00. It doesn't come with new bolts or any of the extra. I would reccommend using The Right Stuff RTV. That is how I fixed mine for the 3rd time. First two times the dealer fixed it and it only lasted about 3 months. Jon Smith from Mopar Chat has a great website that goes through the whole process.

sreding: I'm confused about your response. My understanding of the intake plenum is that it's simply a new type of airhat for the throttle body.
Are you thinking of something else? Maybe the intake manifold?
I'm not all that automotive savvy so excuse my ignorance.

I believe (don't quote me on this !) the name the dealer uses is "air bonnet". I know what you are describing Tim R, it is the round black plastic airhat that fits on top of the throttle body.
The Gen II Daks have the old style large round air filter.

The intake plenum is at the bottom of the intake manifold. Thought you were talking about that not the air hat. Good luck,

I got these part numbers from a post in dodgetrucks.org; should be for the airhat.
