Subject: What is the right price?

First off nice site. I really like the atmosphere and All of the pictures. I am hopefully going to be getting a new 2002 2003 Dakota around this time next year. I was wondering what is a good price for the truck. I want the Club Cab 4.7L Sport Plus 4X4 with the infinity sound, leather wrapped wheel, ceiling console, Sliding rear window, 40/20/40 bench, Keyless entry, Heavy duty group and tow group,
Posi-rear, And the bigger wheels and tires. I live in Northern NJ and Have seen the sticker price around $25 to $26 for what I want. I think I left some stuff out in this message. Might as well be fully loaded. I was wondering what you have paid for yours and what is too much. I think that I could talk them down to around $23 to $24,000. As of right now I have a 2000 Dodge Neon. If the truck is anywhere close to running as good as the Neon I will be really happy. But I owe too much on the Neon right now to consider the trade. I am trying to get a game plan for my savings so I will have enough to put down next year. Well I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks in advance

Brandon

Go to www.4adodge.com and "build your Dakota" with the options you want. You will get an MSRP that, at least for me, was pretty close.

Good luck

The right price is 100-300 over dealer cost or less than dealer cost, aka "list".

Also, sometimes dealers get trucks below list but you wont be able to find that out very easily.

But keep in mind a good deal is not necissarliy the best price. Its the buying experience as a whole. You could find a good dealer, pay a hair more but have a great feeling about buying the truck. That good feeling will last a while.

Accept invoice and invoice only, they make 3% of the MSRP just because of the dealer holdback. If you live anywhere near Idaho, I REALLY reccomend buying from Dave Smith Motors.

GO to www.edmunds.com and price your truck there.
They will show you list price, and invoice.
I wouldn't pay more than $200 over invoice.
Depending on current market demand, you may be able to haggle that down to under invoice.
Another option would be to buy the truck using
a wholesale club group like sam's club. You can
usually get $100 over invoice with no haggling.

INVOICE,

People who pay MSRP, or other than invoice,
are well, lets just say uninformed consumers.

xpklit has it right.

I only paid invoice for my '01 QC, with ALL the options I wanted.

ORDER YOUR OWN TRUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, Don't be an idiot consumer. GET what you and only you want for motor, trans, rear end, body, options, etc.

People who settle for a truck/car that's on a lot are well, let's just say again uninformed. I hear alot of people on this forum who think they got a good deal. What a joke!

Where about do you live in the country. I live near NYC and they don't seem to go down that low around hear. I want the Club Cab 4.7 with all the bells and whistles. I now know what I can look forward to. Also I will be Towing 3 Quads with it with 3 passengers. 1 in the bed and 2 on a trailer. What type of rear end should I get. I will also most likely go light off roading with it while I still have the warenty. Then maybe a little harder after the warenty. I also want to get a bit larger tires for it. So what would be my best option. Also is the Limited Slip rear end the Posi rear? Either way is it wort the extra money? Again thanks for the info.
