I have a question concerning ball joints. I recently purchased a used 00 QC 4X4 3.9. I see most references to ball joints involves 97-99 Dakotas. Is it safe to assume that the ball joint problem was worked out by 2000. I just bought this truck a few weeks ago and we have 8 inches of snow on the ground so its kinda hard to crawl underneath and do some inspections of my own. So far pretty happy with truck but i definitely would order this with the 4.7 or 5.2. The 3.9 just seems to underpowered for this sized vehicle, plus it gets almost the same mileage as the 4.7. Any answers would be greatly appreciated

Exactly what is the problem you're seeking answers to? Defect or When to change them?

I guess you say both. I was just curious if they finally worked out the problems they had with them. If not should I follow everyone else's advice and switch to Moog when I have to change them. Thanks for your help.

I work at the DC plant that makes the ball joints for the Dakota's and there were some problems with some of the ball joints made for the 99 Dakota's but they were taken care of and there have been no problems with the 00 and up Dakota Ball Joints.
