While looking for a used 00 or 01 truck, its going to be hard to find all the options I want, including the 5900lbs tow rating.
Is this something I could add to a truck that doesn't have it? I understand the rear brakes/drums are bigger but what about the rest of the suspension? What parts would I need to install?

Joel

Not tow rating, but Gross vehicle weight (GVW).

I believe it also includes another leaf spring, but don't quote me on that

Clevite 77 is correct. I just ordered one with the 5900 gross vehicle weight rating option. So if it's towing you're concerned about look for one that includes the HD Service group (transmission cooler and 750 amp battery. A hitch is no big deal to add yourself.

Good luck ....Audie, from Ontario

OK, I was confused on tow rating vs. GVW

What will I need to install to have the most payload capacity/GVW?

The 1999 pound payload upgrade is the bigger brakes and stiffer rear leafs and it doesnt come with the tow package, the tow package comes with oil coolers and bigger rad hoses and wiring for towing and electric brake for you trailer

Believe me, it's much easier and worth all the extras to just get everything factory, by the time you try and up grade your brakes, you already paid more than $40 plus you get another leaf spring, the HD service group adds engine cooler, bigger bat, alternator etc, and the $287 (I think) is worth the money for the trailer package, by the time you add a hitch, wiring, trans cooler, and not to mention your time, you would have spent alot more. Plus this way it's all under factory warranty, and you know it's installed right, and is safe to tow with. Just my opinion,

I don't plan on towing or hauling anything big or anything at all for that matter, but I figured for all the extra HD stuff that come with the packages, I couldn't pass it up
