That was with the 318? I had a 318 5 speed 4X4 and it had enough low end. Then I test drove a 4.7 4X4 5 speed and it seemed to be low on power.
How do you like the new 4.7 in comparrison?

That was with a 318. You have to learn how to drive the 4.7 after driving the 5.2. The 4.7 doesn't really come alive until 2500 where the 5.2 has that much torque at what feels like 1500. Once you have wound the 4.7 up a little it is a screamer she loves to rev. Now that I have learned how to keep this engine in it's sweet spot I wouldn't have a 5.2 again, at least stock VS. stock.

97 auto V8's came with the 44re. It is a good transmission when tweaked with a trans-go shift kit and the shift point raised via MP PCM to 5200. No need for a manual at all. I beat a 98 5.2 manual CC with my 97 5.2 auto CC. Similiar mods, I just got quicker shifts than even the manual 5.2. I am no match for the manual 4.7's though, however the 4.7 autos can be beat by a 5.2 auto - stock.
