Subject: Hard start after killing engine
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 2002 Quad Cab 4x4, 4.7 manual trans. Every time I accidentally kill the engine it takes roughly 6 seconds or longer to restart it. it turns over and all but seems unable to fire. Any suggestions?

The way you accidently kill the engine is if you let the clutch out to fast without giving the engine enough gas. It's obvious you have never driven a manual transmission. It's also obvious you have never owned a Chevy truck. I have owned my new Dakota for less than three weeks and have already found three things that will have to done to it under warranty. The bed is out of alignment by 1/4 inch, 2 large clearcoat sags, and a faulty seat cover. Don't get me wrong, I love the Dakota, but the only thing that went wrong with my Chevy was a leaky intake manifold gasket(covered under warranty)Chevy may make a toilet but as far as quality control for Dodge is concerned they are making an out-house.

Don't give me a hard time about not being able to drive a manual. Your the one who stalls it. No I never owned a chevy pick up and never will. My friend went through 3 motors on a 99 5.3 and still had lifter noise before he sold it. The problems you have with your dak are cosmetic. The chevy problem was again mechanical leakyintake gasket not always the best thing. You didn't notice the other things when you bought it, paint, seat cover etc. Thats to bad i'm sure they'll take care of it. you have to admit your dakota definetly outperforms your cheby.

I'm not here to argue just got a suggestion. When you accidentally kill the engine try turning your igniton off before restarting it, so your fuel pump will prime back up. Peace.

Chevys are the worst thing ever. My friends trucks are in the shop for cosmetic and mechanical stuff and its normally big labor stuff.

I would suggest that you take it to the dealer and get them to fix your problems including the hard to start after stalling problem. It should start right away.

Goodluck and you wont be sorry for trading up on a chevy.
