dudes and duddettes,
my damn freakin hyper whites from my front lights went out again. only my right one went out this second time!!! what the hell? i had them on for 2 months. my first one is still going on strong....... anyone know whats the cause of this???

Just go with NAPA Brite Lites or Sylvania
ExtraVision; they are real bulbs, not tinted

This is NORMAL... get used to it.
Basic physics tells us that to make more light, there is more heat generated. More heat means faster burnout.
As the outside tempertures get colder... the burnout rate is WORSE.
I decided to stay with the stock bulbs for several reasons.
1) COVERED UNDER WARANTEE!! (this surprized me too)
2) Side-by-side comparison with "fancy" bulbs showed almost no difference.
3) Lower burnout rate.

I had the PIAA hyper whites in my Ram for two years with not one burnout. Took them out and gave them to a friend and he as had zero problems also. ???

I have Hyper "WHITES" in my truck with no problems. If they are actual hyper whites they aren't tinted, they're white. I've had no problems at all for over a year. What wattage did you buy? Maybe you went a little too high.

As with any sealed beam bulb, any oils on the glass of the bulb will create a hot spot and cause the bulb to burn out faster than normal. Basically, this means if you touch the glass, wipe it off good because body oils (fingerprints) will cause this to happen. I found this out the hard way after going through a few fog light bulbs. Now that I know this, I have not lost a bulb since. I also have the Xenon filled headlight bulbs in my Dak. Been in there for 2 years. No problems.
When you install them, just take your time and do not touch the glass. It usually states that on the package.

I believe it's the slight blue tint that makes 'em really white... not any excess power.
I've had these bulbs for months with no issue, but they're no brighter that any normal bulb.... just whiter.
Great advice from previous replies: Don't over-power 'em, and don't touch 'em.

JASON: You can't get the new tech bulbs in a SEALED BEAM. the sealed beam lights are the old style that you could only get as conventinal or halogen lights and they are sold as series 1001 and 1002 or simular numbers and are bigger around then a soft ball. The 9004 series bulbs these guys are talking about are much smaller and are damaged by skin oils etc. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. And when guys like you confuse them, everyone gets confused. The sealed beams are a headlight, the bulbs are NOT sealed beams. By the way shawn casey how did you get 9007 bulbs to fit in a 9004 socket as they are not interchangeable?????

Havn't had any problems with my low wattage Hyper Whites (the Dodge Lenses still suck) but have had lots of problems with the higher wattage (85 or higher)Hyper whites in other applications (mostly H4's)
