I have a 2000 4x4 sport dakota, I used to get better fuel milage with my 95 ram I had before. any suggestions on increasing milage, i'm only getting 14-15 mpg. I swear if you nail the gas the gauge goes down noticably and doesn't come back up afterwards. I didn't expect huge milage from a 4x4 but man!

I was getting the same 14-15 MPG before I added an Extang Tonneau cover. Now I'm getting close to 17 MPG over the same routes & weather.

I think 4x4 is the difference, usually 2-3 mpg less than 2WD. I have mostly highway driving during week @ 70-80mph and I average 14-15 mpg with some mods, tonneau cover, 33's and lead foot:) My Dak stock was getting 17-18 mpg with tonneau till I started adding mods, then it was all downhill from there...

17-18 damn 2THEXTRM at 75mph I get about 13 70mph I get about 16 at 55 behind a semi w/ the cruise on in a rainy day I get about 24mpg (it has to be raining that's the whole trick j/k lol) The 3.92's make a big difference, cuz I have the same truck as you 2THEXTRM except I have 3.92's. as I leave a light the Overhead thing shows the gas mileage drop to 2 mpg aaaggg. really makes ya wanna baby the thing.

Just get bigger tires, lowers you rpm's so at highway speeds you get much better gas mileage, round town might get a little better too if you don't have a lead foot like mine:)
