I wanted to upgrade my front calipers to 2 or 4 piston fixed calipers, but no one makes any upgrades for daks that I have hear of. Do any of you know of a company that has larger/better calipers for dakotas? Also, I've heard of a couple of people who have done a custom conversion, using viper brakes or some thing like that. Is there a shop or company in the tri-state/New England area that will performe this? I already have power slot rotors and performance pads, but I need some thing that I can really auto cross in. The problem is that my calipers keep warping the rotors and if I upgrade I want to be able to stop on a dime.
Thanks

You didn't say what year your Dak is, but check out www.stainlesssteelbrakes.com/ They have applications for some Dakota's.

If the SSB does not help you, have your tried the STATIX calipers available at www.stillen.com.

STATIX uses a single OVAL piston instad of the dual pistons.

I am not sure if they offer a DAKOTA caliper or not.

Thanks for the response. I have a 1997 RC with an auto, 5.2L, short bed, the lightest dakota I've heard of 2700 lbs. It doesn't have many options, and no AC, I don't mind that. Only mods are headers, exhaust, intake. I've ordered a new suspension including: lower control arms, coils, hotchkis leaf springs, shocks, hellwig sway bar and soon cal-trac bars. I have heard of the new statixs in Truckn, but no research yet. I may go with this if I can't find a good 4 piston caliper that will adapt to the truck. Keep your ear to the ground and inform me of any new info. I'm planning on building the truck from the ground up.
Thanks.

I was one of the guys who was inquiring about the Viper Brakes on the front end of my Dak (Gen III) I got a good look at the front end of a crash damaged Viper and the spindles are way different the fabrication would be $$$ i'm sure. Having said that I know that a guy on here has the viper front Disks on his dak and they look cool, too bad you can't see'em through the Colorado Customs he's got on there.

I think SSB is probably your best bet, but if you do try the viper brake upgrade you might want to pick up the spindles and calipers at Hennesymotorsports.com they sell all kinds of "Take off" parts from vipers they have upgraded.

Stay sane,
Stay Strong!
