I just got off the phone with Daimler Chrysler and they said my truck is finally if F status which means it is being painted. 2002 Dakota Sport 4x4 4.7. Thank you Lord it is about time. I placed the order out on Oct. 18 and it was in D status forever then about three weeks ago it went into D1 status. I kind of think this is ridiculous that it should take this long for a vehicle to be built. Would anyone know from experience how long it would take for it to ship from Michigan to Southeast Texas. They said sixteen days and I figured it should be a little closer than that.

HOLY SH!T YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!! I ordered mine on November 14th they placed the order the 15th and I got mine a week ago today. I thought I wasn't going to get the 100,000 mile drive train warranty so I told them If I don't get mine before the end of December they lost a sale PERIOD! Did you put any money down? If not tell them you want the fu(king truck now or loose a sale, sounds like they don't want to give ya the 100,000 mile warranty. Maybe they already have met their quota for Oct, Nov and Dec. and are saving your sale for Jan's quota. Throw a b!tch fit and I can almost guarantee it'll be there before the years end. normally it takes 6 weeks tops I live in MI maybe that's why I got mine faster, but first they told me about 6 weeks which still would have been before Jan I called again and talked with the manager and he said no way, before the year more like mid Jan. I threw a b!tch fit and what do ya know I got a call 3 weeks later saying it's here. I don't know man sounds like they're d!cken with ya

I put $500 down at the dealership. The dealership is respectfull, but then I guess it would be DC's fault for taking so long. I wouldn't have ordered it if I would have known it took this long.

Sh!t, they kinda have ya by the nutts with a $500 down payment, But I would at least threaten to call the better business bureau (if you have one in Texas) Go to another dealer maybe if you talk to them (I doubt it) but just maybe they'll reimburse you for the $500 if you decide to buy from them, that's if you can't get your money back. I understand it's pissing ya off 3 1/2 weeks was long enough for me. Like I said raise hell and the tables will turn. I asked the salesman if I had to put a $500 down payment and he said no just whatever like $50 will work, I thought that was cool, but then he never asked for it. I'll tell you what though it's worth the wait I heard that from others on this site and they were 100% right. When you order it, it has everything you wanted on it (well if it's available) you know it hasn't been test driven by some @ss that don't give a sh!t. plus at the top in a box it says this vehicle was especially built for (your name)

Ordered my QC SLT on October 15th, took delivery on November 23rd. I tracked it on the rail car from MI to Colorado, took 5 days to make it to Colorado. You can track it on-line if you find out the rail car number from DC. Good luck

I put in an order for a 02 CC 4x4 Sport Plus at the begining of the week. I to was worried about the 7 yr / 100,000 warranty so I called DC and asked about it. They told me that as long as the truck got ordered before the 31st (had to have an order ID number or something, not a VIN number as I was told by dealers) that the warranty was price locked. After arguing with the dealer for a bit they called DC and ended up locking the warranty in for me.

From my understanding this is a recent change to their policy, as of three weeks ago I wouldnt have been able to get the warranty.

Just my 2 cents.

I know what your going through Josh. It took my '00 QC 17 weeks to be built and delivered. Instead of my name being on the window sticker, it says this vehicle was built for "----", my salesmans name. This pissed me off!!!!! Someone also drove the truck for 18 miles before I found out that it was in. They never even called to tell me: I called them and found out that it had been there 3 days, sitting on the lot, with crap wrote on the windshield. They had it sitting there with the other Dakotas, like it was for sale. Pissed even more!!!! The dealership is nothing but a bunch of crooks and liars, and have since been told by me!!! I had trouble with the sale, trouble with the ordering process, and have had tons of trouble with the service department. There now in deep dooky with Chrysler over me complaining, so I hope they get the message. Good luck with yours!!!!!!1

So they locked in your 100,000 mile warranty? Wow! I was told if I didn't take delivery by a certain date I would lose the warranty and the 0% financing, which is what I was going for. So, nevertheless I don't have a '02 Dak because this was the beginning of December we were trying to find one. So, DC could have locked the warranty and the financing in if I ordered a truck?

Thanks!
James

Troy, I don't know man, but I feel as if the same thing will happen to me. That sucks. As I am typing this I am on the phone with the idiots right now. Grrrrrrrrrrr. I was only expect 4-6 weeks. I would be so pissed off if the papers had the salesmans name on it. I would demand a new one *but with their customer service that would be impossible. I guess DC is the only thing that lies between Dodge Dakotas and perfect. Hopefully it will be in before the end of the month. Happy Holidays.

you didn't sign anything did you Josh? other than a paper saying they can do a credit check? If not just get your money back and go to a different dealer ESPECIALLY if it turns out like Troy's. I know it's easier sad than done you'll lose the warranty and if you wanted the truck 8 weeks from now you would have just now been placing your order, but damn don't let them walk all over you.

Hey Troy, did you still buy it?

I can't believe it. I just got off of the phone with DC and they said that the truck is manufactured and should be shipped out today. This is crazy. The order has been in for two months, and it only takes a day and a half to build it, now it is being shipped out. I sure hope that it reaches me before the end of the month. Would anyone know if it will continue to be in transit during the Christmas holidays, because if it is it should be here on time. But the way my luck goes it will probably fall off of the rail car a blow up. LOL NOt really knock on wood.

Clevite 77!!!!!

I'm in sales at A chrysler dodge and jeep dealership and meeting a quota has nothing to do with ording status. It takes longer sometimes and the plants have been very busy this time of year especially when the plants have to re-tool for the next model year. The 100K warranty has no effect on the shipping. The warranty is no cost to the dealership, only corp. chrysler. He better have put a deposit on the truck. If he ordered something they didn't have in stock, his truck must be unique. Why would the dealership want to be stuck with something they can't sell?? thats the reason of a deposit, and so the customer can't back out.

Derrick H, well see when I told the Manager if I don't get the truck I ordered before Jan I don't want the damn thing and he told me normally the vehicle will sit at the plant for a little before it's shipped, and then he said, I'll tell ya what I'll have it shipped immediately once it's built. So I just figured that maybe they had to meet a quota or they didn't want to give out the warranty, thanks for clearing it up though. Regards to the deposit, it's not like I had special ordered a bright pink neon chevette with a diesel motor that topped out at 20mph, the truck I ordered is really nice (for a Dakota), it would sell, isn't the deposit to keep them from selling it to someone else?

It is to keep the dealership from selling it to someone else, but also to insure that you(customer) won't buy from another dealer.

I dont know, I never contacted my dealer, no persuading, it was here in 4 weeks to the day exactly. I just dont get how it can be so inconsistant. I mean, order, truck goes through the line, get shipping in that order, why would one take 2 months and the next only take a month?

Brian024.7, 1. Just in time inventory. With the added security here in MI where the trucks are built, the parts coming from Canada have to go over the bridge or through the tunnel and there is sometimes a long wait at customs. 2. Depending on where you live, the truck has to be shipped to you by car hauler,or by train or both. there can be delays there also. My wife and I ordered or trucks on Oct. 8 and had them on oct 29 and 31st. My dealer is 3 miles from the factory. 3. The plant where the Dakotas are built also makes the Rams. So you have two differnt vehicle lines that use a lot of the same parts. I also feel that Dodge is making more Rams than Dakotas now anyway.
