I have a 95 Dakota Sport and I'd like to swap the 3.9L for a 5.9. The trans is about to go and I'll be changing it too. If anyone could steer me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. A few of my concerns:
I am considering the crate motor from Mopar... is there a more economical way to get that kind of power?
What kind of transmission should I consider and where could I get it?
Can I still have air conditioning?
What computer concerns are there?
Do I need that kit from www.engine-swaps.com?
Money isn't the biggest concern but if I could do it more economically than buying the crate motor.. etc. that would be good.
Basically I want more power/fun, and I would enjoy the project. I don't want a new truck payment.

The cheapest way to do the swap is pilfer the local junk yard and raid a truck yhat has all you need.
