I’ve had my ‘02 QC sport plus for about a week
now (225 miles)and am really impressed with
it, but have a few questions about the 5 speed
trans.

It seems to make a “clunk” when shifting into
3rd gear if I don’t get the 2-3 shift exactly right.

My driveway is on a hill, and when I’m pulling
up it in 1st and push in the clutch near the top
it makes a fairly loud “clunk”.

I can duplicate the “clunk” by holding my foot
on the brake (while in 1st or Reverse); slightly
engaging the clutch to “load” the drive train
and then quickly pushing the clutch in. It will
“clunk” every time, but only if I push the clutch
in quickly.

I had to custom order my truck to get the 5
speed, so there are none around that I can
test drive in order to compare to mine.

I’m hoping that this type of thing is normal with
the NV3500, and would really appreciate any
feedback.

Thanks,
Andy Lemmers

FWIW my truck is a ‘02 QC sport plus 2wd, 4.7
5-speed, 3.55 lsd, leather wheel, slider,
infinity, overhead council, towing.

Yes it is normal just a little bit of gear clash when load is suddenly taken away. Mine does it as well.

Same story here with my '02 5spd. I agree with TallQuad. My '89 5spd did the same thing. Nothing to worry about.
