for those of you considering a 2002 all models do have the front sway bars

>>>>

the following models do not have rear sway bars: base, sport or slt.

rules of thumbs is that if the model you are looking at has 235 tires it does not have the tire and handling group/rear sway bar

to get the rear sway bar on base, sport or slt models order the tire and handling group: 255x65x16 tires for rc/cc and 265x70x16 for qc ....p l u s... rear sway bar, wheel flairs and 16x8 inch rim.

the xlt, sport plus and slt plus do have the tire and handling group standard.

i test drove a sport 4.7/5 speed without the tire handling group last week and will drive one one with it in the next week or so and get back to everyone

My opinion: Don't worry about the lack of the rear sway bar. I pulled the one off of my '99 and felt NO difference. They are too thin to do much good. If you need a sway bar, buy a good after market model and install it yourself. Use polyurethane bushings. This will help front and rear a lot. In the past, I have even used teflon for one side of each connection. Makes the sway bar work even better but does increase ride harshness.

I don't think any 2wd RC's besides the R/T get a rear swaybar. Look at the tire and handling group description and there is an asterick by it that says "Rear stabilizer bar not included on 4x2 regular cabs models." This was true for the 2000 and 2001 books but maybe they did add it along with the wheel flairs for 2002.
