Subject: Hughes Engines plenum pan reinforcement.

Message:
Has anyone out there tried out the plenum pan reinforcement from Huges Engines www.hughesengines.com (part # 7706)? I have had the pan go out twice on my '98 5.2L and I have only put about 8,000 miles of the 86,000 on the engine. Bought it used from the dealer and they fixed it the first time because I caught it right away. That was about 5 months ago. I have read about using The Right Stuff and was planning on it for this fix. Just wondered if this kit would help. Thanks,

Shawn

Buy a M-1 intake and there is no plenum to worry about. Nice kick in the a$$ for HP as well from what I read.

I agree. Get the 2bbl M1 intake manifold, and never worry about the plenum gasket again, and gain a whole lotta upper RPM power.

does this plenum gasket cause the truck to burn oil and cause a ticking sound upon acceleration.

If the belly pan gasket is blown or leaking...yup, excessive oil consumption and "pinging" on acceleration.

Too bad Hughes isn't making the billet version (we've got it in development with Flometrics). ;)
