You can get a stripped RC silverado 2500HD 2wd for $22,000 but you can't even make a RC 2wd Dakota cost that much, even with an R/T. The new 2002 1500 series Ram starts at $17,000 and a nice SLT v-8 can be had for under $20,000. The new 2500 series with the HEMI will be priced very similar to the silverado with equal equipment and will beat it in all the above mentioned catagories. I'll admit the Chevy was the beust full size after it go it's redesign and was compeating against a 7 year old Ram design (go figure) now that Ram got it's redesing maybe chevy can beat it again in 7 years!

HONESTLY,,,,I HAD A 96' V8 DAKOTA AND A 98' 1500 RAM 5.9 I THINK THEY ARE GREAT LOOKING TRUCKS. BUT THEIR ENGINES ARE CRAP. THEY GET CRAP GAS MILES. THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE IS LOOKS. I STILL HAVE MY RAM BUT I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS MECHANICALLY WITH BOTH DODGES. I GUESS I JUST HAD 2 BAD EXPERIENCES, NEXT TIME I'LL GET A REAL TRUCK. A CHEVY

hersbird!! dodge is a great truck. But you actually think the new design looks good? That is the bigest mistake dodge ever made. Yeah this years wheels are bigger thats about the only good thing about it, but the design is a piece of crap.

Yes Chevy S-10 and Sonoma have their 4-door but it's in 4wd only. For now anyway.

I didn't like the new designs in pictures much but when I went down to the dealer and saw the new and old designs, side by side, I thought the new design was a big improvement. The quad cab sport package shortbed 4x4 is just the best looking full size ever, the old one really looks dated next to it. I still prefer the style of the Dakota to it but if I wanted a full size there would be no doubt what I would want. The paper today even has a 2002 ram 1500 4x4 for $18,949 which seems no more expensive then the pervious model. The new headlights are awesome and 17" wheels standard with 20's optional is nice as well. When the new motors come out it's all over but the crying for the Chevies and Fords.

kota on 20s, What I was trying to say was to wait for the redesigned S-10. The current chasis is history. The new S-10 is being designed by Isuzu for GM. It is going to be the same size as a Dakota Quad Cab. It will have a I5 Vortec engine based on the I6 4200 Vortec with one less cylinder. It will compare alot better to a Dak then the current S-10. My best friend has a S-10 Quad Cab and it can not compare to my Dak Quad Cab. His does not have the interior space, power, towing capacity...... It is a dated design compared to the Dak! The passenger side still has that stupid hump in the floor pan cutting into passenger foot space for the exhaust. The 4.3 is not half the engine that the 4.7 is. THe 4L60E is not a very refined transmission. It is also dated. The only flaw in the Dak 4.7 is the piston design. The 4.3 on the other hand is full of flaws! If chevy was smart they would keep the I6 instead of useing an I5. There are only two reasons for the I5. The first is for Cafe standard in the future. The second is marketing. It would make it harder to ask big $$$ for an SUV that has the same engine as a $10,000 mid-size truck!

Well last weekend i went snowmobiling and my friend came along in his Tahoe. Its got half the milage of my Dak and it wouldnt start. Its in the shop today and they were just told it would take a week to fix. (nice.)
Anyone who says chevy is more reliable is just living in the past. Grow up and look around.
POWER: (Dodge) Chevy has there 5.8 and 6.0 and 8.1 but dodge has more efficent drivetrain like earler said. Dodge is also less then a year away from bringing out the 5.7 hemi 345hp and 8.3 v10.
LOOKS: (Opinion) My vote dodge.
INTERIOR: (DODGE) Chevy looks better in a pic but the quality and practicality goes to dodge.
Drivetrain (DODGE) The dodge trannys belive it or not have had fewer problems then chevys going buy the tranny manufactores. The Rear Diff in dodge is 50 times stronger and it is a fact that the limited slip function in 5 out of 8 chevys are broken because of the poor design.
Value: (DODGE)
RELIABILITY: (TIED) As far as engines and trannys go. But chevy is in the shop for stupid things like Door handles, Seat rails, Grill and head light adjustment.
Racing: Wins daytona 500 second year back and probably would have had it the first year if it wasnt for tony taking them all out. Also how many times has chevy gotten there engines banned for being so good (426 hemi) and gotten there cars taken out fore being lightyears ahead of the competition.
Chevy fans go buy a dodge drive them and give them as much of a margin for error as you would your chevy and you will see dodge comes out on top. I love to people that buy a dodge and have the smallest problem and call the truck junk when a year ago his chevy just got 3 O2 sensors but it was still the best truck he ever owned. grow up.

Last I checked Benz was haveing problems with their 4 door SUV!!! I think it was powertrain issues and Quality Control Issues! Not to good for a Highend vechile with big dollar buyers! P.S. Daimler owns Chrysler, So my Dodge is made buy the same people that make Merceds Benz!

well i have a 2001 4.7 4x4 & i love it the only probs.i have is rotors warping,blower motor's going out & i don't like the soft paint.i had a 1996 s10 4 banger it was a good little truck there's more room in my dodge (but it is an extended cab) i never had any probs.w/my little chevy it was in 2 bad accidents & was never the same.i wanted to get a bigger truck w/a v8 & 4x4 i first looked at a silverado i hit the gas pedal & it was very sluggish i then drove my dakota & it flew & drives almost like a car. that was it. dodge has the looks & the power.dependibilty? after a year a half & 23k no serious probs. stay tuned.

Heh heh... I'm not jealous of the Benz... I own a Daimler product. I noticed, looking under the hood of a NEW Benz bought by my boss for his wife, that it had the same power steering cooler, alternator and a few other parts (like the Bosch brakes everyone is complaining about?)that my Daimler Chrysler Dakota has... Now... Who got screwed?
Heh, heh... He's just mad because anyone can own a Daimler product now...

Dodges are the biggest pieces of crap on the road. the 318 is the worst engine ever designed. Dont you love getting 10 miles a gallon withe your 240 crap hoarspower. They definitely suck bad. They run like crap too. Thats why they come with such a long factory warranty, cause they always break and they suck!! The new designs are the worst thing dodge ever came up with. cant wait too see dodges crappy inovatons are next year. I am so sorry to all of you who own one and even more sorry for those of you who compare it to a chevy. If KIA made a truck, it would run better!!

The only article iv ever really read on a full size Chevy pickup that had alot of power was in one of the Hotroad magazines from a couple of years ago... The guy had supercharged his sierra?? is that what there called? anyway i think it had something like 600hp and only pulled up 16 something in the quarter... I guess he could put on a smoke show if he wanted... *shrugs*

The new design dodge are hard to get used to,but man let me tell ya,i seen a fully loaded 4door 4x4 it was awesome wow im sold.As for the DODGE CHEVY deal.My buddy has a 2000 Chevy z71, i have a Dakota Quadcab 4.7,after 40k both trucks are running trouble free. But my buddys Chevy's fit and finish sux,its a rattle trap in the cab.My dodge is still rattle free and the fit and finish are toyotalike Ill take the quality and sufer at the pump thankyou.

one of my favorites was in Sport Truck not too long ago. There was a S-10 that someone dropped a LT4 engine in it, a T56, and 3.73 gears......best quarter...high 15's.
