OK, did some cleaning of the garage today and have a few things I want to get rid of. One of them is a complete set of parts to install an overhead console in a '97-'99 Dak. The truck I was intending to use this on has since been sold and my R/T already has the console. For an energenic type who doesn't have the console but wants one, this would save you the trouble of rounding up the parts. All you would need is to run some power up to the headliner to power the map lights. This setup DOES NOT have the overhead computer or harness for it. That was a bit more intallation headache and cost than I wanted.

All the parts and the factory fasteners to install it. Cost me ~$130 a couple of years ago. Will sell it for $100 shipped.

Bob, do you have any idea what years that consol will fit. I know my truck will not be listed though. Its a 1990 Ext cab. Very nice truck too. Lifted and customized all around. How does this consol install. And is the top flat or contred for a curvy ceiling? My truck's is flat. Thanks for the info. Hope to get good news from you.
Thanks again, Joe E.

Joe, this is for a Gen III truck(97 and later). Don't think it would fit anything older than that.

Sorry.

Mike, shouldn't be all that difficult. Take a power lead from the fuse block, up the A pillar and across to the middle of the roof. You're only powering the map lights, so it wouldn't take that big a wire. I had a power moonroof in the truck the console was intended for and they ran 16 gauge leads up to that thing, again just running them out from the fuse block on the driver's side of the instrument panel.

I know Scotty has already spoken for it, I'm not trying to you know swipe it from him, I was just wndering if that console has a space to put one of those TV mounting kits, that flip down. If it does and Scotty decides he's not interested then I might pick it up.

Scott,

I don't have any assembled pics of the overhead console. All of these parts are still in the factory wrapping. I can lay them out and shoot a pic, but would prefer not to take them out of the bags. I could list the part numbers of all the pieces I have it you like.

Let me know.

Jeff,

It's tan colored. Not sure what the official DC color callout was for that.

I recently purchased a 2002 quad cab. It’s fully loaded but didn’t come with the elusive overhead computer. After reading most of the postings. I was able to obtain an overhead computer on Ebay. I’m interested in hardwiring the overhead computer. The only option in the computer that I am interested in is the compass and outside temperature sensor. The computer I have has four wires attached to it. I know that one wire is the constant power, the second is ground and the third is the ignition power. I’m not sure what the forth is I’m assuming it the Outside temp reading. I got the compass to work but cant figure out how to get the outside temp to work. My truck came with a senor for outside temp. The senor has two wire going into it. How can I hardwire my over head computer so that my outside temp works. Also does anybody know what PCI bus stands for, and were can I find it in my truck. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

i got the switches installed. ran all the wires. now i'm
hooking it all up. running the wires for the switesh was
really easy. you can tuck the wires under the headliner.
the a-pilar comes off after you take off the driver's o-
shoot-handle. i got my amp and neons switched, and i
ran the wires for the other two switches to under the
dash so i don't have to drop the console to hook them
up when i find a use for them.

all this talk about overhead consoles leaves me with a question. How do you remove the panel w/o breaking it or ripping the headliner? I want to install a button and two switches in the area used for bussiness cards (it says "clip" on it). I have a 00 with the long overhead consol (the clip, 2 map lights, sunglass holder and another generic storage).
If anyone could help me i'd appretiatte it

Drew,

Theres a screw on one end, remove it and grab under each side of it, and gently pull it down, it's put up there with clips.

I added the O/H puter to my 01, that already had the o/h console.
