I am about to purchase a 2006 Dakota SLT club cab with only 33k miles! It is a legit deal, and I really like the truck. Problem is, I have 2 kiddos and possibly a third on the way at some point. I know I know, go get a quad cab, well I am buying a club cab and will make it work.
My issue: can the "third gen" Dakota be modified to accept a rear bench, say a 60/40 rear bench from a "second gen" Dakota? I am having the hardest time finding info. Or could I add a middle seat in the back somehow, and add a third seatbelt?
I plan to have the 2 kids in the back on either side, but need an option to legally mount a rear facing infant carrier in the middle of the back. Since the 2006 only has the 2 seatbelts, I will need to make a few changes. Has anyone made a third seat back there or somehow put a rear bench?
Any suggestions? Our other car is a 5 seater and we can fit just fine, but when we all need to pile into the new truck, I need the ability to transport myself, wife and 2-3 kids.
