 Subject: 2000 dodge dakota towing

I have a 2000 dodge dakota 4.7 auto trans 3.92
trac lock rear end cold air intake sport quad cab
towing package in including trans cooler. I have
few questions on the hitch it says weight
distributing max trailer weight #6500 tongue #750
weight carrying #3500 #350?? is that referring to
having a weight distribution hitch or not??? I am
not really concerned with how much my beast is
able to tow my concern is the stopping and safety.
From what info I could find the gross combined
weight rating is #10,500 can I go over the #6500
or the #10500 and does a fifth wheel change
anything??? Just wanting to get a toy hauler but
don't wanna have to get anything real small but
don't need real big!!! thanks in advance

GCWR - 10,500 is truck and trailer combined. if the hitch is only rated for 6500, I would not tow more than that. And towing at max capacity, you better upgrade your braking system and make sure whatever trailer you get has electric brakes and adjust the controller properly.
