 Subject: glowing exhaust

i have a 96 dakota with the amc 2.5 5 speed manual. The oil was frothy and the coolant was brown. I changed the head gasket and intake/exhaust gasket. Now it idles very high and the exhaust glows red. I removed the cat and the exhaust still glows.
