i have a 2006 dodge dakota with 36,000 miles. While accelerating it kind of delays before it shifts gears and then shift very hard. It seems mostly from 2-3rd gear, but to me it does this in other gears not as much though. Also what seems odd is that when it is in a upper gear 4(maybe) its rpm can sky rocket without shifting. Whats the problem.....Please help

well i sounds like your transmission is slipping and is shifting late which is a sign of low line pressure check your transmission fluid level and make shure it is at the hot mark on the dipstick when the engine is at normal operating temp and make sure the fluid isnt burnt if it smells burnt then that is a sign of transmission overheating which means time for a rebuild

from my understanding...the vehicle learns your driving habits. it was a florida vehicle for most of its life then it moved to PA. Our hills are a lot different than florida's.

Daddio and Curly, it's guys like you that make this the only place i've found to get solutions to these little problems. I hope this is going to fix the problem or not. I'm going to monitor my tranny operation and I'll let you know if anything happens. I hope my problem isn't more than the speed sensor or a torn underdrive piston seal cause right now a transmission is way at the bottom of my long list of things I need to spend my money on. Keepin my fingers crossed, I'll let you know.
Thanks for the help
