hey ya'll i have a 1997 dodge dakota xcab 2.5l 5 spd manual and i was wondering if i could pull a 5th wheel trailer with it? a good friend of mine said its possible cause those motors are very solid and i've heard of people doing this with their v6s. is it a good idea?

Look at the tow ratings. You can pull a lawnmower with that setup. That's about it. Seriously. My V-6 auto is rated for 2000 lbs. Don't try to tow over the rating. You'll need a diesel RAM.

well i think my truck could handle it cause i have a few mods that really seem to get my hp up a little. i have a custom cold air intake and throttle body and spacer from a 4.0l cherokee same year and at pacesetter head and removed cat and ran a straight pipe with no muffler i have also ditched the clutch fan and used an electric fan. i got 4.56 gears too. ya'll don't think i could pull a 5th wheel?

Sure you can pull it. How far or how long without destroying your truck is the question. Oh, don't foget about the occasional stop you will have to make at some point in time.

WOW. What the hell is with this guy? This is the same jackass that goes by the names of eggnoodlehead, bonghead, and bongboy, to name a few. First he started telling everybody to shake the f*ck out of their baby (along with many other nonsensical things), then he went on to post this and other outlandishly stupid questions just to waste everybody's time.
I'm guessing this is some S-10 owner that is tired of getting his ass handed to him by a dakota in any sort of competition that he can come up with. So, since his neanderthal brain can't think of any way to get back at people who own real trucks, he puts his lack of talent to use and posts such silly things as this.
Crap like this has made alot of people who know alot and could help alot of people leave and go elsewhere. It is sad the depths this site has sunk. There are still a couple of you good ones out there, but how long until you guys get sick of it and leave, as well? Someone made the comment on a post that no one is at the controls, and I would have to agree. Sometimes I even think that these and similar posts are from the site creator himself, who knows.
I guess some people do just want to see the world burn...
