 Subject: Will an 05 quad cab bed fit an 01 quadcb

Hi all,
I've got a trusty 01 quadcab thats been beat to
hell. Its a trooper though, never had any trouble
with the engine. Id like to fix her up so shes
not embarrassing to drive around though. I found
an 05 quadcab with intact bed. Anyone know if I
can just swap out the beds?

Nope, ttoally different truck. '04 was the last year of GenIII.

The only way to know for yourself will be to crawl under each and take measurements of the body (in this case bed) bolts in reference to where they attach to the frames of each rig. To be more specific: Starting at the back of the cab, how far back are the front bolts on the `01 compared to the `05? will the `05s align with your `01s frame mounts? Next, how far back are the back bolt holes from the front holes? If the holes align, you are good to go as far as bolting in place.
But wait! There are more things to look at!
Do the tail lights use the same plug styles?
Does the gas tank filler neck line up?
Is the spare tire hoist accessed at the same angle?
Good luck, and let us know what you find out as far as compatibility.
