I have a 2000, 4x4, 4.7 liter AT, and changed my transfer case fluid with Valvoline maxlife ATF + 4. It took about 1 1/4 qts. I also changed out both the front a rear diff fluids with full syn. gear oil. The rear also takes friction modifier available from the Dodge dealership.

Thanks for verifying the guy at Advanced Auto told
me ATF+4 too but my haynes manual said dexIII. Also
i thought you only needed the friction modifier if
you had LSD?

Yes, ATF +4 and no friction modifier unless you have LSD.
