My '92 Dakota w. 2.5 has an engine knock, buddy has an in the box Chry reman 2.2. for Kcar w. auto trans, my Dakota is a 5 spd. How much trouble to swap the 2.2 for the 2.5? Will everything bolt up? Thanks

I would be easier to swap in a 3.9V6 or 5.2V8 than that 2.2 4 banger. It is not near the same engine as the 2.5.

It should be possible. My concern is the crank
being drilled on the 2.2 for the pilot bearing.
The blocks are the same, Dakota and FWD.

The engines r exactly the same accept
the stroke for the 2.5. The Dakota motor
has different motor mounts drilled out
and Dakotas don't have balance shafts
like the k car. I once thought of putting a
2.5 turbo form my daytona to my same
year Dakota and relized all of the issues!
