i just put a new cat back exhaust system on my 1999 V8 dodge dakota 5.2l and the check engine light will not shut off... any suggestions to fix this problem??

Did you check to see what code tripped the light? I'm going to take a wild guess and say you either removed one or both O2 sensors or forgot to hook one or both back up.
When the C.E.L. comes on you should always check for codes first. It could even be unrelated to your exhaust mods just coincidental
