Subject: 15" Wheels to 16" ?

I have a 2000 Club Cab 4x4 with 4.7L V-8. Truck has 15" rims. I was thinking of getting the 16" which started on the 2001-2004 trucks as their are more tire choices for 16" rims.

Other than the cost is their a reason to keep the 15" rims.

Really? I thought there were more choices in the 15". Maybe more aftermarket 'wheel' choices?

The reason you still see older rigs with 15" wheels and larger tires is the sidewall distance. The slightly smaller wheel gives you more tire (sidewall) flex, more flexability to air down and still reduce damage to the wheel itself,...and as you stated tires are typically cheaper when buying for a 15" vice 16". Larger wheels were developed to clear larger (diameter) brake systems, provide better onroad characteristics (lower profile tire = less sidwall flex), and keep up with market trends.

I think in your case, it would be a matter of personal preference...nothing more.
