Subject: Airbag Light On, off. Onnn offfff on off

Has anyone else had a similar issue with their airbag light?

When I start my truck sometimes it will stay on, then go off after 5 minutes of driving. Other scenarios include:
- On the entire trip
- It comes on in the middle of a trip
- It will be off, then on, then off in a few minutes time
- Ect....

Anyone had this happen before? Could it be a grounded wire somewhere? The dealer gave me a 30 day 100% labor and parts warranty...but I think it was just for powertrain. Maybe I can raise enough cain to get them to look at this issue?

Thanks!

Sounds like the clock spring in the column. Not a difficult fix, the part is about 70 bucks from the dealer.

Yea, mine did that too, only it always stayed on...i think Mike is right, sounds like your clockspring is going out, only mine was 230.00 thru the dealer so i got it online for about 80.00 It sits under the airbag in the steering wheel.

Somewhere else (maybe on here) a poster said that when the Airbag light is on, if the cruise control will not engage and/or the horn will not work that it is the clock spring.

I tested it this weekend and both the cruise will engage and the horn works...so I am guessing it really is the air bag system. Anyone have any experience with this issue?

Thanks.

The shop said it was something to do with the seatbelt sensor. They secured it and gave it a wiggle test and the airbag light is now off. They said if it comes back on they will have to replace it.

Just wanted to let you all know what I found out.

Thanks.

i had a similar problem on my 03. i spoke with a fellow who did repairs on the assenbly line at chryslers, he said they had a problem with the connections under the steering wheel. i removed the wheel and crimped all the wire connectors under the wheel that connect the air bag. the light functions as it should.......it has been 3 years. be sure to follow the manual as how to disable the air bag.
