oh yea and they do sell the 8.1L. it's mated up to the allison tranny just like the diesel would be. i guess its a little bit cheaper to get that motor than the diesel, so thats the reason....

What if I didn't want a small Hemi gas engine under the hood of my Dodge truck, Could I order a 488 V10 or just have to settle for a more expensive nose heavy diesel?

I happen to like Cummins motor's but for a 3/4 ton truck and not to much to haul, give me a big block motor that can move it!

diesels cost 20% more to run. back in the day diesels were known to run 300,000 miles, and gassers weren't.. now these days, ive seen a ton of silverados with over 250k on them.

the cost of operations isnt much more than a gasser
3 gallons of oil, yes, 15k oil changes though,
fuel filters are all of $5

theres more than that to consider. price of fuel for one. then you have to consider the cost of the vehicle compared to the same one without a diesel. better yet, to get the diesel, you have to have a rig thats no smaller than a 3/4 ton series. why would someone like myself, want to pay $35000 for a diesel powered pickup, when i would never ever tow or haul something that would come close to testing it's capability? my truck costs about 16k new. It will pull my boat, camper and then some. when i get a bigger boat i have in mind, no problem either. unless you need the diesel, its almost like buying a hybrid car, they never pay for themselves.

Gas engines always rules when you need to get from 40-70 very fast. All a diesel would do is sit there and smoke!

Get a Hemi in your 1/2 ton!

evidently, you've never ridden in a diesel with a performance programmer installed.

i'm not saying diesels arent the sh!t these days. but cost wise, its not worth it unless your pulling something really big, and often.

I think what Lease is talking about is diesels in stock form. Not "upgraded"

Of course I'll agree that the B modle 16 and early 24 valvers were slugs but thats not really the case with the Cummins ISB engines today.

thank you

and my 03 was no slug stock even
and yes, the older diesels were slugs STOCK, but nothing like a 94 12 valve with 800hp :D

check the resale values, 1500 vs 2500 diesel
you pay 5k more for the diesel, but when you go to sell it you will get that and then some out of it over a gas
