Hi, folks. I am going to order my 02' quad 4.7 2wd soon. But I am debating between automatic vs 5sp.
Both me and my wife like stick shift. But I am a little bit concerned about the resale value, although I am planning to sell it in the near future. I've been warned by many friends that I will have to keep it forever, since no one is going to buy a used truck with 2wd and 5sp.
Is there any quad 2wd, 5sp owners out here? What do you guys think?

I have a 2001 CC 2wd 4.7 5 speed. There are always people that will only drive sticks. It shouldn't be hard to sell. With as many people as there are that will only drive stick and as rare as a stick 4.7 is you should have no problem. Try selling an automatic Mustang, its not near as easy as selling a 5 speed Mustang. (just 1 example) The one thing that may hurt you is being a quadcab. Most of the people that buy QC want it as a family or luxury car, not a speed demon.

Hellow, I am currently driveing a 2001 Dak QC 4.7. It has the automatic. I have always owned sticks and still prefere stick shifts in sports cars and hardcore 4x4 but the daily driver is sweet as an automatic. My wife is hard on clutch's and it is great in stop and go traffic to not have to use my left foot 300 times in one mile of inching along. If your heart is set on the stick then get it. If you prefer convenince and increased resale value then get the a/trans.

It's sure to hurt the resale some but the question is how much? Will it be more then the auto costs extra in the first place? Generally options will only detract from the resale but some major things like transmission, motor, and package can 'perform' better in resale then the whole truck does. Assume that average resale is 50% of new after 5 years, if the automatic costs about $600 more new will it still add $300 to the value in 5 years? Probably. The 4.7 is only an extra $530 to the cost, will it add $265 to the resale in 5 years? Definately. Where you start running into problems is with something like the power overhead convenience group for almost $1200, is it still worth $600 in 5 years? Probably more like $2-300. Anything far from the norm (like manuals in non-sport cars, or no A/C) is going to narrow your prospective buyer list, which even if it doesn't detract from value it can make it more difficult to sell.

In my experience, its alot harder to sell a 2wd pickup than it is to sell a stick..If your worried about resale dont buy a car or truck, buy into the stock market:)

just be lucky your wife drives a manual! Go with the stick man, I looked forever for a used 5speed. Good luck! They are hard to find. Its like $1000 cheaper too right? I am ordering a 5speed for sure.

Thank you all very much! I decided to order the 5sp. Since I will keep it for at least 3 years, it is not the time to worry about resale value yet. It would be a very unique truck. I wanted a black, but she wants a red. We went to a local dealer last weekend and saw a beautiful red r/t cc, then you know what happned. Anyway, the only thing I don't like about red is the black bumper. Does anybody know a way to get it painted for a fair price. Don't quite want to spend over$300 on that alone. Lots of upgrades are on the list.
quad, red/taupe, 2wd, 5sp, 4.7l 3.92.
future mods:
painted bumper, street scene grill, tonneau, etc.

I will never have another auto. Less power, cost to much to fix, and no fun
