That's HEADS, as in two heads.
You'll know when you pull the heads and have them checked. You gotta pull them to change the gaskets, anyway.

Take it to a shop and have them do a pressure test on the cooling system .... that will tell you if you blew the head gasket between the cylinder and the cooling passageway .. basically they will remover the radiator cap and install a fitting to pressurize the cooling system .... if it loses pressure ... there is a problem with the head gasket. If the engine stalled on its own when it ran out of water and ran super hot .... then you might have broken or warped a piston ring or rings ... you will have to do a compression check on all the cylinders to find out. Either case is a VERY bad thing to have a engine stall or basically seize because it ran hot.

is it very hard to remove the heads on these engines? if not i will just do it myself, i just hope that its just the gasket and not the pistons or heads.
