It should be an LA engine, unless in Canada - where I think '67 may have been the last year for the larger poly 318. Shouldn't be too much carb - I had a 650 eddie on my '69 Barracuda 318, and it ran great. Your heavier Fury might stumble off the line with a hotter cam if you have highway gears in it. Maybe try advancing the timing a bit ? Don't have any hard numbers for you. Check for vacuum leaks too, and good luck.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Steve, got a book here (had to look it up)
It only goes back to '70 but the 318 2bbl Carter 230hp with:
std trans is TDC +/- 2.5 degrees.
auto trans is TDC +/- 2.5 degrees also.
Set curb idle with vacuum advance hose disconnected and plugged.

This sounds weak but it is because it is a high compression engine with 9.2:1

Hope this helps. It may need higher octane fuel. This is only a starting point because I use to run 10 degrees advance, or at least start there.

I just checked my manual, it goes back to 1966, it shows for manual, 5 degrees Before, Auto 10 before.
Just remember, back then it was common to start there then increase 2 degrees at a time until it started to detonate, knock, or rattle, then back off 2 degrees.
Hope this helps,
