Subject: 60yr old idiot with a shock question!

Message:
So it's been nine or ten years since I put shocks my 95 Cherokee and can't exactly remember if I had this issue. I get Rancho RSXs for my 03 Dak and I'm thinking they base applications on length and use universal widths for the base and top mounts since they aren't really wide enough. So these mounts have steel sleeves running through that are wider than the mounts and bushings but still not as wide as OEM, but I figure since the stock bolts fit that they are necessary. Thing is, since the bolts aren't touching the neoprene bushings they are noisier than hell (I think it's them and not my Fold-A-Cover). So my question is, should I have removed the sleeves or are they part of the shock? Thank You!

Well then, trial and error work for most people. Don't ask some one to do it for you if you aren't ready to do it for yourself.

Almost. Actually it's one guy with a grudge. He started out spamming Amsoil; and has moved on to spoofing the real TexasTodd to detract from the site. He was upset about people flaming the old Amsoil sponsor, and seems to have gone off the deep end. Best to ignore him.

Oh Kowalski, how little do you know. I never flamed Amsoil. You are the one that must have the problem. The "real TexasTodd" is the one writing this post. I don't care if people flame Amsoil, either. You must be the one that cares. I am just tired of the stupid people like you coming here and destroying this site.

how much of a gap is there between the sleeve and the mounts? Is it possible to put rubber grommets or something on both sides to keep the sleeve from sliding back and forth between the mount?

Kowalski,

Thanks for seeing right thru this guy, girl, whoever.

Those like you that really know the usual themes and tones of my posts, KNOW that these are not mine.

When I read thru this site now, it seems this person (I use the term loosely), is doing all the posts himself.

He has all but destroyed this site. Pitty

I found this site and thought I might like it. But with this TexasTodd critizing everything I believe I will find a board without him. On another board I'm on we ban his kind.

If you're for real, it's probably just as well - since your reading comprehension seems to be challenged. I've already explained that isn't the real TexasTodd.

mudbug - I thought you were heading to another site ? If the only thing you're here for is to call people names, we don't need you. Every "TexasTodd" post in this thread is from someone who is abusing Todd B.'s screen name. I don't see where you've contributed anything useful to this thread. Why don't you try to help instead of complaining ? Unless perhaps mudbug is just another name used by whoever is spoofing TexasTodd. I've never bought shocks that didn't fit properly; so I don't have any idea of what ratchet's problem could be myself. But I can and did set the record straight on something you are either confused about, or perhaps taking advantage of ?

ratchet,

I had the same problem with my KYB shocks not having those bushings either. They also have a metal sleeve, the bushings are actually between the sleeve and the shock itself. So what you have to do is tighten the hell out of the bracket bolt so it pinches the metal sleeve in the bracket. When you do this the sleeve wont move, thus stopping that annoying noise. So get back under there and tighten it "until your balls hurt".

Good Luck

I usually don't get involved with the BS I see on this sight, so this will be the first and last time. Instead of responding to the jacka$$e$, ignore them and simply reply to those who have questions or helpful info. Hopefully, they will get bored when no one is giving them the attention their mama should have given them when they were a child.

So to any jacka$$e$ out there:

That's generally what I do; but when I see others who are confused about what is really going on here, I feel it can be worthwhile to clarify the situation. I've never noticed a post from "mudbug" on any other thread, and suspect that person and the TexasTodd spoofer are one and the same. This person has been given plenty of opportunity to get bored, yet persists. He supports the confusion by posting under different names. In knowledge, there is power.
